Terry and Ha!
A Hip Hop Classic
Hailing from the
"not so" gritty streets of Cleveland, Ohio comes longtime rhythmic resident, Terry Urban. To describe him would take me a lifetime and that's not including his accomplishments and accolades he receives along the way. When did his love for DJ'ing come about? I myself am unsure of, but to see him perform and witness the crowds reaction, you'd say he's very passionate about his craft. Neighbors for about 2 years in the Warehouse District(down the hall from me), I remember then his convo was about doing great things and staying driven. That quest thus far has led him around the globe and back, just in time to pack his life(records, sneakers, and t-shirts) here and head east to NYC. His move may have led some to miss him, but a guy such as Terry is no stranger to broadening his horizons. Diversification can and
should be used to describe his rise and resumé as he plays chameleon to different walks of life when booked for entertainment. I can say its safe to assume his color never held him back as his
talent and
personality trumped any if not,
all barriers. A style maven as well, Terry makes the denim and tee a staple in his attire, but is known to spruce it up for any occasion. Now I could never DJ in a tuxedo but not only did Terry prove that it could be done,
Mick Boogie and
DJ Steph Floss also demonstrated with ease that
"it's nothing," at my homey
DJ Fresh's wedding this past summer. All four spin-smiths are members of The League Crew, a tightly knit group of premier DJ's from Cleveland. Terry has become very instrumental in making it possible for artists to be heard on his various mix-tapes that he showcases occasionally. Blending their wordplay over well known tracks that he seems to flawlessly mix, has gotten some artists major airplay. Artists and fans alike love him for that. As a result his fan base has grown major since I've known him and at his pace and the way we listen music nowadays, I bet those numbers will hit the millions in no time... - Ha!
Stay up with Terry on
Twitter, and as he recently launched his very own
